I was speaking at the AWS re:Invent conference in Vegas in December 2018, and took the opportunity to travel through Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Park before flying back from California. This was my second time in the area, and I was much more fortunate with the light this time -- even the one morning with rain and mist provided a nice backdrop to the trees at Barker Dam.
